Which rudder is right for me?
If you're looking to do Adventure Racing the most common choice is the surf rudder as it typically offers around 20% better control in the waves....It's not uncommon for a surf rudder to control the kayak in rough conditions while a trailing rudder to be out of the water.
The trailing rudder is great for the Avon Descent and other races such as the Murray Marathon. It allows the kayaker to paddle in low water and for the rudder to "kick up" when there are underlying obstacles.
