Prior to sit on kayaks kayakers had very limited options when it came to paddling on an open designed kayak. The most popular option the waveski was designed, as the name suggests, for the purpose of surfing on waves. Now, the sit-on-top kayak has well and truly replaced the waveski for all but surfing the big waves.
