Sit-In Kayaks
Sit-in or Traditional kayaks evolved shortly after man decided that the grass was greener further downstream on the delta!!
It is believed kayaks originated from the Artic area where Eskimos used whale bone and other materials to create a skeleton and then skins of animals to create a vessel that they could use for hunting / fishing.
Of course, todays 'kayaks are made with a variety of materials one of which is still skin and bones (--traditionalists!!!--).
